I attended Old Shell Road Elementary School, Phillips Junior High School and Murphy High School with Gene Mock and James Coleman and I considered both my dear friends, both of them had a love for life, they were smart and both were great athletes, once I moved to Atlanta I lost touch with them and it was later I reconnected with James, both have transitioned to Glory but are still truly missed and when I remember them it always makes me smile knowing I had the privilege to enjoy them both if only for a few moments, Gene and James I will always love and remember both of you, much love Maddog

Now (he) will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honors out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.
